GUARDIAN HOME OPTION
Our Guardian Home program allows us to partner with local families to us! This program allows some of our dogs to bless another family/home all while still being a part of our program.

Our Guardian Home families own all pet rights to the dog in the Guardian Home program. This means that the dog (male or female) will primarily live with you as a valued pet and member of your family! We retain and own all breeding rights. He/she would come back to us for any titling, health testing, and breeding if they meet all requirements of our program.
When you become a part of our Guardian Program, you are given the opportunity to be a part of bettering our magnificent breed!
BENEFITS + REQUIREMENTS
Why choose our Guardian Program for your newest furmember addition?
* Our Guardian Home Program allows families to have a well trained, well behaved dog/puppy placed in their home at no cost. It also benefits the pup/dog as he/she is already with the family that they will be their retirement family after they are retired from our program. YES, after our dogs/puppies in our Guardian Home program are retried, they are forever yours and all ownership rights are transferred over to you after he/she has been spayed/neutered! Our Guardian Homes allow us to expand our program while still maintaining that all our dogs that are in our program are part of a family. This program allows us to continue to better our wonderful breed of Golden Retrievers and gives passionate families the opportunity to be a part of that as well! While we want to keep ALL of our dogs in our program, that is not optimal as we would be sacrificing their happiness. Golden Retrievers are a very social breed and need daily one on one interaction. When having a multiple dog household (5 + dogs), it is hard to appropriately spend the necessary amount of time with each dog/pup everyday. This program eliminates this problem and allows us to still be involved with the dog/pup without having to sacrifice their happiness and need for one on one attention from their family!

What is the Guardian Family financially responsible for?
Many people ask if they have to purchase the puppy/dog being placed in the guardian home. The answer is no! We handpick a top quality dog/puppy that we want to retain as a part of our program and then place them in your home! Guardians are responsible for all "regular" pet expenses. Such as food, treats, toys, etc. Guardians are also responsible for any normal vet care that is not related to breeding. This pertains to worming, flea and tick prevention, heartworm prevention, and necessary vaccinations for your area. Any illness, emergency, etc is the sole responsibility of the Guardian Home while the dog/puppy is in their care. Guardian families are also responsible for the dog/puppy's grooming upkeep. Once the dog/puppy is retired from our program the Guardians are responsible for the spay/neutering of the dog/puppy.

What is Liberty Kennel financially responsible for?
We are responsible for picking and placing a puppy/dog into your home! We pay for any and all health testing and screening prior to any breeding taking place. We will teach guardian families how to detect a heat cycle as well as how to properly care for a pregnant dog. Any vet costs that are breeding related will be our responsibility.

What age do our dogs start breeding, and when are they retired?
Our dogs produce their first litters after turning 2 years of age if they have completed and passed all necessary health testing. This does not guarantee that your pup/dog will produce his/her first litter at 2 years old. They may be 3 years old before they are ever bred depending on what litters we have planned in the year they turn 2 years old, etc.
Our females are retired at the age of 4 to 5, and our males are retired at age 6 to 7. This is subject to change as a lot of factors go into how long a female or male is bred. With that being said, a female will not be bred passed the age of 5 and a male will not be bred passed age 7. However, they may be retired as early as after his/her first litter.

What happens if my dog is not suitable for breeding?
If your puppy/dog is deemed not suitable for breeding, whether that be from failing health testing, etc, he/she will be retired from our program. He/she will need to be spayed/neutered within 30 days of his/her retirement. After spay/neuter has been completed then all ownership rights will be transferred over to the guardian family.

Do Guardian Homes negatively affect/impact the dog from going inbetween homes?
The short answer is no, this does not cause any negative impact on the dog/puppy. There will be an initial reaction of curiosity of "Where is my family going?". A very well socialized dog (which is required of all of our dogs in Guardian Homes) will very quickly settle in and get comfortable within an hour or two of being with us! Keep in mind that Goldens also feed off of their owners emotions, so if you are upset, nervous, etc the pup/dog will also have behaviors in that manner. This is why we work with local families so that we can be involved with the dog/puppy other than him/her being dropped off to our house to stay. We prefer to have interaction with them outside of exchanging them for breeding, etc so they are already comfortable and familiar with us!
